This is the good stuff. They're occupied, they're outside, they're moving, and nobody is asking for a tablet.
Back-to-School Bingo
Yes, we know. We're aware that "back to school" is a phrase most of you would like a break from.
But hear us out. It's bingo, it's the whole family at one table, and it's the kind of low-effort, high-payoff activity that works whether your kid is six or sixteen. The teenager who claims to be too cool for this will absolutely get competitive. They always do.
DIY Backpack Tag Station
Make a backpack tag. Something that's actually theirs, not the fifth identical one from the school supply aisle.
Small thing. Kids love it. And it's a nice bridge between "summer's over" and "okay, this school year might be alright."
Snow Cones

This is the part where the weekend stops being a kids' event and starts being a weekend you enjoy too. Chairs out, kids running around with the other kids they met an hour ago, actual live music, no bedtime enforcement happening with any real conviction.

The Monday That Actually Matters
Okay. This is the reason to read all the way down.
Monday, September 7, 2026. Labor Day. The final day Pirates Bay Waterpark is open all season.
On that day, and only that day, resort guests get:

- $10 Pirates Bay Waterpark tickets at the gate
Ten dollars. On a ticket that's normally $24.99.
Think about what that actually unlocks. Most families check out Monday morning and drive home into the back half of a long weekend, tired and vaguely disappointed. Instead you sleep in, don't rush, spend the last day of the waterpark season getting launched down the Thunder Bowl, and then go home.
Pirates Bay Waterpark is 0.4 miles up the road from the resort, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Attractions include the Thunder Bowl, The Green Pearl, Slither, Barnacle Bill's, Skull Island Soaker, the Sparkling Pool and a Splash Zone for kids under 48 inches.
The waterpark is also open Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6, on regular admission. So you can genuinely make this a three-day water weekend if that's the energy you're bringing.
One heads up before you go: outside food and drinks aren't permitted inside Pirates Bay. Sealed water bottles and baby formula are fine, but the cooler stays at your site. Ship Wrecks inside the park handles lunch.
After September 7, Pirates Bay goes quiet until next summer. No extensions, no "one more weekend." That's it.
What Else Is Here
The organized activities are the headline. The rest of the property is the actual reason people rebook.
- Weiss Lake, 0.2 miles away, with private beach access, community docks and a private boat ramp. It's the Crappie Capital of the World, so if somebody in your family fishes, this is their weekend.
- Four pools: the Mushroom Pool, Overlook Pool, Villa Pool and Parkview Pool
- Shaded mini golf, lit at night
- Golf cart rentals, four-seater or a six-person limo cart, because walking is a choice
- On-site dining at Sharky's Cafe and the Blue Bell Ice Cream Shop
- Picnic pavilions, a general store, laundry and WiFi, which matter more than they sound like they do on night three
Where to Sleep
You've got options, and the right one depends on your crew.
Bringing the rig? RV sites are full hookup with 20, 30 and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, WiFi, cable, a fire ring and a picnic table. Pull-thrus run 50 feet, which matters if your setup process currently involves hand signals nobody understands.
No rig? Cabins sleep four to eight depending on which one, with kitchens and real beds. There's a pet-friendly one, because the dog is coming and we all know it.
Check-in is 4 p.m. Central. Checkout is 11 a.m., unless it's that Monday, in which case: late checkout, on the house.
Book It Before It's Gone
Labor Day weekend is the busiest weekend on the fall calendar and it's the last one with the waterpark open. Those two things do not combine into "plenty of availability."
