- What are the hours of the pools and waterpark at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?

- What is included in my camping fee at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
Access to our pools, amphitheater, jumping pillow, basketball courts, sand volleyball, gaga ball, horseshoes, 2 miles of walking trails, playgrounds, fishing, swim beach, kayaks, water trikes, and water bikes.
Admission to Pirate's Bay Water Park is a separate fee outside of resort fees.
- How far in advance should I make my reservation at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
We recommend booking at least 3-6 months in advance of the desired arrival date.
- When is the cheapest time to book at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
Visit us during the months of November through February and enjoy reduced rates! Please keep in mind, activities are limited to weekends only during these times.
- Can I tour Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
We are happy to show off the resort, and we do allow tours. However, we cannot allow tours on holidays or busy weekends. Please call ahead. We would hate for you to waste a drive.

- Will my reservation at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay guarantee a specific campsite or cottage assignment?
We do offer you the opportunity to guarantee your favorite campsite or cottage by paying our applicable $35 lock-in fee. If you opt out of the lock-in fee, you are guaranteed your selected campsite or cottage type, but not the specific unit number.
- How many guests can I have on my reservation at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
The maximum number of guests per RV site is 8. Maximum occupancy for cottages is the maximum number of people they are rated to sleep.
- Does Great Escapes Chesnut Bay have RVs to rent?
We do not have RVs to rent at our resort.
- Does Great Escapes Chesnut Bay provide linens in all cottages?
Yes, we provide linens in all our cottages.
- Can I pitch a tent at my campsite if I have an RV at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
Yes, you can! We allow 1 small, 2-man tent in addition to the RV at an RV site.
- Can my friends come and visit Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
Absolutely! Guests must pay the Day Use fee to visit or they can be added to your reservation.
- What kind of fish are in Weiss Lake at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
Weiss Lake is rated as one of Alabama's top fisheries and is known as the "Crappie Capital of the World." White and black crappie are abundant, along with largemouth, spotted, and striped bass.
- What are the fishing and boating regulations at Weiss Lake near Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
A fishing license is required. Fishing Licenses may be purchased online or at area bait shops and marinas. - Is firewood available for purchase at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
We have firewood available for purchase at our store. To preserve the beauty of our wooded Resort, please do not cut down or damage trees in any way.
- Can I bring my own firewood to Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
No, not at this time. Using only local firewood will help protect Alabama's forests from damaging invasive pests.
- Can I bring my own golf cart or ATV to Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
For safety and liability reasons, guests are not permitted to bring any personal motorized vehicles, such as golf carts, into the resort. While we do not like to be the fun police, guests found in violation of this policy may be asked to leave without refund. For your convenience, we do offer golf cart rentals that allow accessing our resort easy…and fun! If you have a disability, you can bring your own golf cart, however, you must provide documentation for insurance and have a handicap placard.
- Can I bring my own E-Bike or motorized scooter to Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
Yes, E-Bikes and motorized scooters are allowed on-site. Please ensure that all speed limits and traffic signs are respected. For everyone's safety, if reckless driving is observed, E-Bikes and motorized scooters will need to remain parked at your campsite for the remainder of your stay.
- How do I rent a golf cart at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay if I am staying overnight?
Add a golf cart rental to your reservation when you book online. For more information about our golf carts click here/activities-amenities or you can always come into our front office, and we will be happy to help you!
- How many cars are permitted at my site at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay and may I have extra cars?
You may have two cars per campsite or cabin, but each car should have a car pass hanging on the rearview window. These are given with your reservation materials. We do not allow extra cars per site because we do not have enough parking space available. ** Extra cars may be permitted due to individual circumstances and events but must be approved by management prior.
- Can I bring a pet with me to Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
YES! We are a pet-friendly resort! Pets are allowed in some cottages, but not in our playgrounds, restrooms, pool areas, or other buildings. For 1 pet, there is a flat fee of $25. For 2 pets, there is a flat fee of $50. Pet owners are required to bring a leash for their pets and are responsible for pet clean-up and noise control. For the safety of our guests, pets must be up to date on vaccinations. We reserve the right to remove hostile and disruptive pets from the park. ** Service animals are allowed in buildings and event centers.
- What are the peak and non-peak season dates at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay and does that affect the attractions?
Our resort dates and availability of attractions vary throughout the season and are as follows:
Peak Season: March 1st thru October 31st (March-May: limited activities during the week)
Non-Peak Season*: November 1st thru February 28th
*Events, attractions, and facilities have limited availability during the non-peak season.
- Are alcoholic beverages allowed at Great Escapes Chesnut Bay?
They are, but the beverage must be held in an unmarked container or koozie. Glass containers are not allowed in the pool areas and or activity centers. This is a family-friendly Resort, so please be considerate of others and refrain from loud and unseemly language.
- Does Great Escapes Chesnut Bay have quiet hours?
We do! Quiet hours are 11:00 PM – 8:00 AM daily. Any guest under 18 years of age must be at their campsite or cabin during these hours unless accompanied by an adult.
