Crappie Are Calling | It's Go Time in the Ozarks

Angler holding two crappie caught in the Ozarks during spring fishing season

Well, can you believe it's already spring in the Ozarks?

With all these warm days, the fish are definitely biting. I've personally caught several nice limits of crappie lately. The surface water temperature on Bull Shoals Lake is sitting around 55°F, which means the crappie spawn is just around the corner.

We're also right in the middle of our annual paddlefish season, and I was lucky enough to land a 130-pounder. The season runs through April 15, and I'm hearing that the Missouri Department of Conservation may be adding a fall paddlefish season as well. If that's something you're interested in, you can book a stay with us—we're just two minutes from the lake.

Over at Lake Taneycomo, anglers are catching some great-sized rainbow and brown trout. And with turkey season right around the corner, there's no shortage of opportunity. Mark Twain National Forest is just minutes away, offering 1.3 million acres of Ozark wilderness—plenty of room to find that perfect bird.

So come join us at Great Escapes RV Resort in Branson, Missouri. Spend the day enjoying everything our activity-filled park has to offer, or let the crew kick back by the pool while you head out on the water. Either way, everyone's happy.

If you need a guide, we can help arrange that, or if you prefer to go on your own, we're happy to point you in the right direction.

See you soon—and remember, "they bit yesterday, but they'll tear it up tomorrow!" 😜
