Christmas in Branson: What's Actually Worth It, and Where to Sleep

By: Great Escapes RV Resorts Branson / 15 Oct 2026
Illuminated Christmas tree and festive train surrounded by holiday lights and crowds at night.

Branson does not ease into Christmas. There is no gentle transition, no tasteful wreath-on-the-door phase.

One day it is a normal Ozark town. The next it has 6.5 million lights, an eight-story animated tree, and a parade with floats that someone clearly spent a full calendar year building.

That is the appeal. It is also the problem, because every hotel on the strip knows exactly what it has and prices accordingly from November through New Year's.

So here is the actual lineup, with real dates and real numbers, plus an honest account of what a stay 22 minutes outside town does and does not include in December.

The 2026 Branson Christmas Lineup, With Prices

  • An Old Time Christmas, Silver Dollar City. November 7 to January 2. Park admission, with reserved show seating from $15 + tax.
  • Trail of Lights, Shepherd of the Hills. November 6 to January 2. $30 to $35 per carload, or $50 for vans of 8 to 15.
  • Adoration Parade, Historic Downtown Branson. Sunday, December 6. Nativity lighting at 5:00 PM, parade around 5:30 PM.
  • Branson Landing lights and fountain show. Season-long. Free to walk.

Two of the four cost almost nothing, which is worth knowing before anyone books a package deal they did not need.

What to Actually Do With the Season

An Old Time Christmas is the anchor, and it earns it. Over 6.5 million lights, the Christmas in Midtown Light Spectacular running another 1.5 million on its own, and Joy on Town Square, an eight-story tree choreographed to music.

The 2026 Stars, Lights & Christmas Nights Parade is double the length it used to be, with new floats and costumes. On the show side, A Dickens' Christmas Carol hits its 25th year, plus Heart of Christmas for the bluegrass and gospel crowd, the Living Nativity, and the Frisco Sing-Along Steam Train for anyone traveling with a kid who has strong feelings about trains.

One planning note that trips people up: Silver Dollar City does not run every day in winter. Check the park calendar before locking in dates.

The Trail of Lights is the sleeper pick for families with small kids or anyone who has reached their limit on walking. It is a drive-through route across 160 acres of the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead, open dusk to 10 PM Sunday through Thursday and dusk to 11 PM on Friday and Saturday. Priced per carload, not per person, so a full car is the whole point. Free hot cocoa at Aunt Mollie's Mercantile, except on Christmas Eve.

Pajamas in the car, heat on, nobody has to find their other glove. This is the version of Christmas lights that does not end in a meltdown.

The Adoration Parade runs Sunday, December 6 through Historic Downtown Branson along Commercial Street, with the Adoration Nativity Scene lighting at 5 PM and the parade rolling around 5:30. It is a genuine local tradition, not a tourist production, and the crowd reflects that.

Branson Landing keeps its lights and fountain show going all season, and walking it costs nothing. Good filler for an afternoon between a show and dinner.

Staying at Great Escapes RV Resort Branson in November and December

Here is the part most resort blogs skip, so it is going first.

November and December are the resort's winter season. Pools and the Wibit closed after Labor Day and stay closed. The themed weekend calendar wraps on November 15 with The Great Homeschool Escape. After that, the property is quiet.

Quiet is the selling point, not a disclaimer. The people who book December are not coming for a splash pad. They are coming to see lights, catch a show, and have somewhere calm to land afterward.

What is open on property in November and December:

  • Nature and walking trails
  • Wagon rides
  • Playground
  • Gaga ball
  • Gem mining
  • Fire ring, picnic table and charcoal grill at every campsite

The resort sits on 65 shaded acres at 210 Shoals Bend Boulevard in Forsyth, roughly 14 miles and 22 minutes from downtown Branson on US-160. Far enough to skip the strip traffic, close enough that a 9 PM drive back from a show is nothing.

What It Costs to Stay

Great Escapes RV Resort Branson is open year round, which puts it in a different category than the seasonal parks that shut down in October.

Monthly sites run $600 for 2026 and $700 for 2027, with electricity metered and billed separately. Extended stay sites include 30 and 50 amp full hookups, water and sewer, pull-thru or back-in options, a fire pit and picnic table, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.

For a family that wants to work through the entire Branson Christmas calendar without cramming it into three days, a monthly site costs less than most people spend on a long weekend downtown.

Shorter stays work too. Full-hookup RV sites run 30 and 50 amp on concrete pads and fit rigs up to 60 feet. Cabins and cottages handle the no-RV crowd, with heat, a real kitchen, and a door that closes.

The glamping tents and covered wagons are not a December option. Those get winterized.

A Four-Day Christmas Plan That Works

Day one. Arrive, settle in, build a fire. Nobody schedules anything on arrival day and lives to regret it.

Day two. Silver Dollar City, all day. Go in with a plan for the parade and at least one show. Leave room for the fact that the kids will want to repeat exactly one ride six times.

Day three. Branson Landing in the afternoon for the lights and fountain show, dinner downtown, then the Trail of Lights after dark. Pajamas in the car is not optional, it is the strategy.

Day four. A slow morning on the trails, maybe gem mining, then home. Or stay another week. The Ozarks in winter are genuinely underrated.
