Branson Air Show 2026: Everything You Need to Know Before Sept 5-7 (Plus Where to Actually Sleep)

By: Great Escapes RV Resorts Branson / 26 Aug 2026
Kids pose with a friendly mascot during a family getaway at Great Escapes RV Resort Branson.

There's a very specific sound a kid makes the first time an F-16 goes over their head.

It's not a word. It's more of a full-body shriek that starts in the knees. And honestly? Fair. Because when the Thunderbirds rip across the Ozark sky, most of the adults are making the same noise, just quieter, because we have dignity or whatever.

The Branson Wings of Pride Air Show is back September 5-7, 2026, and this year it's tied to America's 250th anniversary, which means they are not doing this halfway.

Here's everything you actually need, including three rules that will absolutely ruin your morning if you don't know them going in.

Quick answer: what is the Branson Air Show 2026?

The Branson Wings of Pride Air Show presented by CoxHealth runs September 5-7, 2026 at Branson Airport in Hollister, Missouri (4000 Branson Airport Blvd). Gates and parking open at 9 AM, gates close at 5 PM, and aerial performances start at 11 AM each day. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headline, joined by the C-17 Globemaster III East Coast Demo Team and the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team. Parking has to be bought in advance with your ticket, there are no on-site parking sales, and there is no re-entry once you leave the grounds. Kids 5 and under get in free on general admission, ages 6-17 get a discount, and there's military and veteran pricing. It lands on Labor Day weekend, so lodging goes fast.

Bookmark that. Now the details.

Three rules that trip people up

1. Parking is not something you figure out when you get there

Parking is required for entry, you buy it in the same checkout as your tickets, and they do not sell it on site. No pulling up and handing someone a twenty.

So buy the parking with the tickets. Then screenshot it. Then email it to yourself. I don't make the rules, I just have personally stood in a field realizing my confirmation lived in an email account I couldn't log into.

Tickets are also non-refundable, exchanges are sometimes possible before things sell out, and the show is expected to sell out. Waiting until August 30 is a choice, and it's not a good one.

2. There is no re-entry

Once you walk out, you're out. You can't run back to the car for the forgotten sunscreen, the extra snacks, or the hoodie nobody wanted at 9 AM and everybody wants at 2 PM.

Pack the car like you're packing a carry-on. What's on your body at the gate is what you have for the day.

3. Aerosols are banned, and that includes spray sunscreen

This one gets people every single time. Spray sunscreen will not make it through the gate. Bring the lotion. Yes, the kind you have to actually rub in on a squirming 5-year-old. Character building for everyone.

What you can and can't bring

Yes:

  • Folding or camping chairs and blankets, in general admission
  • Small personal umbrellas, general admission only (they block views in premium seating)
  • Bags up to 16" x 16" x 8", subject to inspection. Clear bags get you through faster
  • One factory-sealed water bottle, 1 liter or smaller, per person. There are refill stations inside
  • Handheld fans, sunglasses, hats, comfortable shoes
  • Small soft-sided coolers, but only for medical needs or baby items

No:

  • Outside food and drinks, beyond that one sealed water bottle
  • Hard-sided coolers
  • Aerosols of any kind, spray sunscreen included
  • Drones, fireworks, weapons
  • Pets, except service animals

A few other things worth knowing: kids under 16 need an adult with them, first aid is staffed by CoxHealth medical professionals through the terminal's west doors, there's a private space for nursing mothers, and weather or schedule updates go out on Facebook and Instagram @Branson_Air_Show. Follow them before you go.

And please, ear protection for the little ones. Jets are loud in a way that videos genuinely do not prepare you for.

Plot twist: it's not just the air show that weekend

Here's where Branson does that thing Branson does, where several excellent events pile onto the same three days.

Southern Gospel Picnic at Silver Dollar City runs August 27 through September 7, 2026. That's not "wrapping up right before" the air show. That's running straight through it. The Isaacs, The Inspirations, Karen Peck & New River, multiple stages, and a truly unreasonable amount of fried chicken at the House of Chicken & Fixin's.

It's also Labor Day weekend. Which means everyone in a four-state radius already had Branson circled.

Translation: three things are competing for the same beds. If you're the type to book lodging the Tuesday before, this is the weekend to break that habit.

Where to stay when Branson is at capacity

This is where staying a little outside the main strip stops being a compromise and starts being a strategy.

Great Escapes RV Resort Branson sits in Forsyth, about 14 miles and 22 minutes from downtown Branson on US-160, and roughly 25 minutes from Branson Airport where the show is. Far enough that you're not sitting in strip traffic at 9 PM. Close enough that you're not road-tripping to get to a funnel cake.

And because it's Labor Day weekend, the resort is running its own themed weekend, "Work Hard, Play Hard," September 4-7. So the kids have something happening on property before and after the jets.

Your options, honestly compared

RV sites come in a few flavors. Executive sites run 50/30/20 amp, full hookups, concrete, pull-thru or back-in. There are 30-amp and 50-amp full-hookup options, plus electric and water sites that fit rigs 20 to 38 feet. Every site has a fire ring, picnic table, and charcoal grill.

There's also a site type literally called the Doggie Den, full hookup and built for people traveling with dogs, and I need whoever named that to know they did great.

Cabins if you don't own an RV and have no interest in pretending you do. Real beds, real kitchen, real air conditioning, which in a Missouri September is not a small thing.

Glamping tents and pioneer covered wagons both sleep four and both come furnished. The covered wagon is the one your kid will describe to their entire class. You will get zero credit for the planning. You will get all the credit for the wagon.

One honest note: rates go up on weekends, holidays, and special events. This weekend is all three at once. "Book early" isn't a sales line here, it's just math.

The last pool weekend of the year, and yes that matters

The pool closes after Labor Day. So September 5-7 is the final swim of 2026.

There's also the Wibit floating obstacle course on the lake, the giant inflatable course with climbing walls and slides your children will fall off of roughly two hundred times while screaming with joy.

This is genuinely useful scheduling information. An air show is a lot of standing and looking up. Kids have a finite amount of standing-and-looking-up in them. Having somewhere to burn off the rest is the difference between a great day and a meltdown in a parking lot.

How to actually run the weekend

Friday: Arrive, set up, let the kids do the Wibit until they're pruney. Hit the resort's Work Hard Play Hard activities. Don't schedule anything else. Friday is for arriving, not achieving.

Saturday: Air show day. Gates at 9, flying at 11, out by 5. Leave Forsyth earlier than feels necessary, because everyone else is also driving to one airport. Bring the parking pass you already screenshotted.

Sunday: Silver Dollar City for Southern Gospel Picnic, or a second air show day if you're all in. Or nothing. Nothing is allowed.

Monday: Last pool morning of the year, then home.
